Navigating the Social and Health services.
The American health care system is complicated, difficult to navigate and can kill you if you aren’t prepared, proactive and knowledgeable. From finding good doctors to being able to afford medication, the hurdles can feel insurmountable. One of our objectives is to to help our community navigate some of these challenges through:
- Community outreach about social services.
- Family Care and Social Services.
- Information about the US Health Care System .
- Personal Wellness Services.
Education opportunities
One of our objectives is to to reduce illiteracy through increased access to education and information technology; to alleviate poverty; and, to achieve an improved standard of living for our community. We act as a basic resource with information on enrollment into Undergraduate, Graduate and Vocational School plus any Scholarship Opportunities that could be available.
This is achieved through:
- Education Seminars and webinars.
- Identifying and Eliminating Root Causes of Institutional Barriers
- Providing Information about scholarships.
- Career guidance sessions.
Welcome new arrivals
A welcome Package will be developed and regularly updated that contains critical information helpful in the transition and assimilation in the state of Ohio. We empower the new community members to confidently address life’s challenges, thrive in the global economy, and catalyze positive change. Focus will include information on the following areas but not limited to;
- Legal services, Social Security Services.
- Gather and disseminate information which is pertinent to and or beneficial to our new community members.
- Transitional period needs for new arrivals: Driver’s Licenses / State ID, Opening Bank Accounts and Credit Cards, Insurance (Rental, Vehicle), Car Purchase.
Explore opportunities that improve the financial welfare of members
Good financial management a community to make effective use of resources, fulfil commitments to members, gain competitive advantage and prepare for long-term financial stability. We hope to achieve this through conducting seminars on the following topics;:
- Financing for Housing, Cars, and Business.
- Insurance (Home, Rental, Vehicle, Life, etc.
- Taxes (filing).
- Investment & Retirement.

We know that by embracing differences, a variety of voices and unity, we can solve the community’s most complex problems.
An Introduction
The Ugandan Community OHIO. (OUAA) encourages participation of the Ugandan Community and friends of Uganda to promote community development drives, foster unity among Ugandans and promote the Ugandan culture. OUAA understands the important role and contribution it plays in Ohio in promoting multiculturalism. It helps attain social, cultural and recreational needs through various community programs such as a community BBQs and Uganda independence celebrations. OUAA embraces inclusiveness and diversity by recognizing the need to foster cross-cultural relations and works in collaboration with other organizations, communities and agencies in Ohio and USA at large to attain its objectives.
OUAA Projects
We believe that sustainable impact starts with local leadership. For that reason we have created a community-led organization dedicated to advancing the economic and personal development of the Ugandan Community in Ohio, through greater access to education and other life-changing resources.
We have created programs built around the community, not a community built around our programs. We do not exist to impose programs the community doesn’t want or need, we exist to support them through programs driven by research, data, and compassion. We have developed a unique model that is based on the fundamental premise that when individuals earn opportunity for growth they are fundamentally more committed to their own success.
OUAA is a wonderful non-profit organization which dedicates itself to a very noble cause. It is a pleasure to be able to volunteer for them. The people who work at OUAA a are passionate about the work they do and are warm, welcoming, and hospitable to volunteers. Their work has provided assistance and aid to countless children and families throughout OHIO, and they have been essential in ensuring that the youth in our community have the materials they need to excel and move forward with their education goals.
OUAA is a great organization that brings awareness to its community members that work on education, healthcare, conservation and economic empowerment in the great state of OHIO.I am proud to be apart of their work to enlighten the public on the wonder that is Uganda and the wonderful people and organizations dedicated to making it better.
